Dear students, academic faculty and administrative staff,
The new academic year will shortly be upon us and I wanted to reach out to each and every one of you as together we begin the new year. This is a unique year and quite different from what we are used to in the academic world. We are in the midst of a global health crisis that has impacted everyone in a variety of aspects, in line with where they live and their stage of life.
I welcome our many new students who have joined us here at the Faculty in our different departments. Because we will not be able to meet face-to-face, we will do everything we can to help you integrate in the best possible way.
During last academic year’s second semester, we began using remote learning in earnest, with all its benefits and disadvantages. Since then, we have improved, updated, reviewed and enriched the study materials.
We understand the difficulty, but also the need, to continue to develop research abilities, to brainstorm and to exchange opinions through these online platforms today.
The situation has caused many of us to look deeper into ourselves, to sharpen our areas of interest, our aspirations and our dreams - and this is the time to realize all of those that connect you to academia as students, researchers, lecturers and academic staff.
I wish you all a productive, enjoyable, thought-provoking and interesting year. May we all be able to take advantage of our studies to enrich our knowledge in the areas that engage us, may we all know how to do good for ourselves and those around us and may we strive to improve and attain our objectives, each of us in our respective areas: as learners, as teachers and as learning and teaching enablers.
And above all this, I wish you and your families good health.
