Computer Adaptive Test of Vocabulary Size & Strength
CATSS is a test of vocabulary size, the number of words the learner knows, and strength,
which is the combination of four aspects of knowledge of word meaning (active recall, passive recall, active recognition, passive recognition). Vocabulary size is tested via
samples of words from different word frequency levels. The vocabulary strength element is reflected in four test stages, each test stage testing one modality for each word, starting with the most difficult one (active recall) and ending with the easiest one (passive recognition).
CATSS was designed in two versions: monolingual and bilingual
