Talk title: "After Postmemory: Teaching the Holocaust in the Wake of Gaza”

Maeera Y. Shreiber is a Professor in the Department of English and Religious Studies at the University of Utah. She is the author of Singing in a Strange Land: Jewish American Poetry and Poetics (Stanford University Press, 2007) and most recently Holy Envy: Writing in the Jewish Christian Borderzone (Fordham University Press, 2023). Her work on poetry, religion, and Jewish thought has appeared in numerous journals such as AJS Review, Prooftexts and PMLA. She has held fellowships from the Stanford Humanities Center, the National Humanities Endowment, and the Frankel Institute for Advanced Jewish Studies, and was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at Haifa University in 2018. She is currently trying her hand at translating contemporary Hebrew poets (Ruth Ivanov Kara-Kaniel, Ariel Zinder, and Admiel Kosman), and is working on a monograph proposing an alternate genealogy of Jewish-American poetics.
