את הד''ר סיימתי באוניברסיטת ברקלי, קליפורניה, ארה''ב 1985 .לימדתי בחוג 35 שנים נושאים שונים מתחומי האסלאם, דת ומשפט מוסלמים.
קורסי ההוראה שלי כללו: קוראן ופרשנות, מבוא לדת האסלאם, ספרות הפתאוא, אתיקה רפואית באסלאם, ראשית החיים וסופם, רפואה וטכנולוגיה באסלאם, היחס לנכויות במשפט המוסלמי, מצוות האסלאם, זכויות נשים באסלאם, וזכויות האדם בכלל.
בשל פרישה לגמלאות אינני מלמדת יותר בחוג.
נושאי המחקר שלי כוללים אספקטים שונים של האתיקה הרפואית, נכויות, הפלות, השתלות, בחירת מין הילוד, איחוי הבתולים, ועוד, וההשקה שלהם עם מצוות האסלאם, זכויות נשים באסלאם, וזכויות האדם בכלל.
