תחומי מחקר
ירושלים באסלאם הקדום, סגפנות מוסלמית, אפוקליפטיקה מוסלמית, וספרות החדית' בכללותה.
פרופ' אמריטוס בחוג לשפה ולספרות ערבית, אוניברסיטת חיפה. עבודת הדוקטורט שלי "ירושלים באסלאם הקדום" (האוניברסיטה העברית, 1985), נכתבה בהדרכת פרופ' מ.י. קיסטר.
בשנים 1986-1989 הייתי בתוכניות פוסט-דוקטורט בוואשינגטון, ב - The Catholic University of America; Dumbarton Oaks Institute). תחומי המחקר בהם התמקדתי הם: ירושלים באסלאם הקדום, הסגפנות המוסלמית הקדומה, האפוקליפטיקה המוסלמית, ערבית-יהודית, המפגש הלשוני בין קופטית וערבית, הוצאה לאור של כתבי יד עתיקים בערבית.
הקורסים שלימדתי היו: על ירושלים באסלאם הקדום, האפוקליפטיקה המוסלמית הקדומה, הסגפנות המוסלמית הקדומה, קריאה בכתבי יד ערביים.
