About The Department of Arabic Language & Literature

The Department of Arabic Language and Literature offers an immersive engagement with Arabic culture, language, and literary traditions across historical periods. Students examine the structure of the Arabic language, explore its literary corpus from the pre-Islamic era to contemporary times, and analyze the historical, theological, and cultural foundations of Islam.

The department offers degree programs across all academic levels: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Master of Arts (M.A.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

Undergraduate Studies (B.A.)

The undergraduate curriculum integrates core linguistic instruction—encompassing grammar, syntax, and dialectology—with a broad overview of classical and modern literature and the study of Islamic traditions and sects. Graduates successfully transition into professional fields including education, translation, journalism, public service, and academic research.

Graduate Studies (M.A.)

The Master’s program provides advanced specialization in Arabic linguistics, philology, and literary analysis.
