Welcome to Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy offers intellectually rigorous courses in the philosophy of mind, epistemology, ethics, logic, and philosophy of science. In studying philosophy, students engage with fundamental questions concerning human existence, knowledge, and morality, learning to examine these inquiries systematically and critically while analyzing sophisticated responses from thinkers spanning Classical Antiquity to contemporary discourse. Our curriculum combines a structured grounding in major philosophical frameworks with an expansive range of elective courses, providing direct engagement with landmark texts, in-depth debate, foundational thinkers, and diverse theoretical traditions. Through this program, students develop cognitive adaptability, analytical clarity, and critical reasoning—learning to evaluate claims systematically, analyze complex texts, formulate coherent theories, build sound arguments, and produce well-reasoned scholarly writing.
